I’m lucky enough to capture love stories of all sizes, from grand celebrations to the most intimate of gatherings. Robyn and Adam’s Carlisle micro wedding sat at the smaller end of that scale. With just 11 members of their immediate members, they chose to tie the knot at Carlisle Registration Office, nestled within the historic Lady Gillford’s House.
Now, don’t let the initial impression fool you! Entering the modern council office atrium, you might not expect the hidden gem that awaits. But a climb up the stairs and a stroll along a walkway reveals a truly enchanting space: a traditional, wood-panelled ceremony room.
I’m not usually needed for very long at micro weddings. I was with Robyn and Adam for just one hour, but in that time I captured the build up and the ceremony and then we all went outside for confetti, group photos and couple portraits along with a few candid shots of the happy moments.
Why Micro Weddings Are Magical:
- Intimacy: With a smaller guest list, the focus is truly on the couple and their love. Every moment feels personal and meaningful.
- Reduced Stress: Planning a smaller wedding can be less overwhelming, allowing couples to truly enjoy the experience.
- Flexibility: Micro weddings offer greater flexibility in terms of location and schedule.
- Focus on the Essentials: It allows couples to prioritize what truly matters to them, whether it’s the ceremony, the photography, or the time spent with loved ones.
Robyn and Adam’s wedding was a testament to the beauty of simplicity. It proved that you don’t need a grand affair to create lasting memories. Sometimes, the most intimate celebrations are the most unforgettable.
