Winter weddings hold a certain magic, don’t they? There’s the promise of crisp air, twinkling lights, and maybe, just maybe, a dusting of snow to create a picture-perfect scene. That’s exactly what I was hoping for as I drove through the stunning Lake District towards Jenny and Chris’s wedding at the beautiful Merewood Hotel.
The day started with a flurry – literally! Heavy snow had blanketed the landscape in the early hours, sparking dreams of a winter wonderland wedding shoot. Sadly, the snow was a fleeting visitor, melting away just before I arrived to capture Jenny’s preparations. But, as any seasoned Lake District wedding photographer knows, the beauty of this region isn’t dependent on the weather. And the Merewood Hotel, nestled in Windermere, certainly didn’t disappoint.
Stepping inside, I was immediately struck by the warm, festive atmosphere. Just days before, the hotel had been transformed for Christmas, adorned with glittering decorations that added an extra layer of magic to the charming venue. It was the perfect backdrop for Jenny and Chris’s special day.
The Merewood Hotel, a truly lovely venue, provided a cozy and intimate setting for the couple’s ceremony and reception. The day unfolded beautifully, filled with lots of laughter and so many wonderful moments.
Jenny and Chris certainly knew how to throw a party! Their wedding was a fantastic finale to my 2024 wedding season, boasting the most energetic dance floor I’d witnessed all year. From the first dance to the final song, the dance floor was packed with guests celebrating the happy couple. It was a truly joyous occasion, a testament to the love and happiness shared by Jenny and Chris and their wonderful friends and family.
While the snow may have eluded us, the warmth and love radiating from Jenny and Chris’s wedding day more than made up for it. It was a perfect winter celebration, a beautiful ending to a fantastic year of capturing love stories.
