Rachel and Ben’s Cragwood Country House elopement wedding took place on a gorgeous day in June. Located on the shore of Lake Windermere, half way between Ambleside and the town of Windermere, it’s such an idyllic spot for a Lake District wedding. With amazing grounds that go right down to the lake, it has so many stunning spots for wedding portraits.
For my elopement couples I love to capture some of the build up to the ceremony. This can be some of the final preparations and also the pre wedding meeting with the registrars. The Cumbrian registrars always manage to have a few laughs with the couple during that meeting. I then photograph the ceremony and following that it’s time for the portraits. For an elopement we often have more time available than we would for a wedding with a large number of guests. So it’s not uncommon for the three of us to take a small hike up a mountain or head over to a remote spot by a favourite lake for some of the portraits. To get some relaxed candid photos, there’s usually a few pictures of chilling out in the bar with a drink.
As well as being photographer, I also had the honour of being one of Rachel and Ben’s witnesses for this wedding.
