Emily and Mark dropped a big hint about just how epic their Ullswater Wedding was going to be during an early conversation when they asked if I had a life jacket! Their wedding ceremony was to take place at Glenridding House with close family and friends only. This would be followed by their much larger wedding reception on the opposite side of the lake at the Ullswater Yacht Club. As keen sailors and members of the club there was only one way for them to travel from the ceremony to the reception, by yacht. In fact they had arranged for 3 yachts, so everyone at the ceremony could get out on the water. For me, they had a much faster and potentially wetter option lined up, one of the club’s rescue boats, to wizz me around as I took photos.
The day itself definitely lived up to expectations. The weather threw one spanner in the works with heavy rain preventing an outdoor ceremony but the showers did at least make way at the critical moments to let everything else go ahead as planned.
Emily and Mark’s reception included a quiz/games competition. All of the guests participated with great enthusiasm. The evening food was courtesy of a pizza van which was incredibly popular.
