I’d really been looking forward to Elena and Julian’s Woldingham wedding and it lived up to all of my expectations!
My day started with Elena at her parents’ house for her, the girls’ and her family’s preparations. From there it was just a very short drive to St Paul’s church in Woldingham for the wedding ceremony itself. Elena made the journey along with her bridesmaids in the back of her father’s classic Daimler, a perfect wedding car.
Following the beautiful service, everyone headed back to Elena’s parents’ for champagne and canapés. Their gardens really put most wedding venues to shame and gave us a perfect location for the portraits. It also seemed rather special to be able to do them in the place where Elena used to play as a child.
For the evening reception it was another short hop in the car, this time over to Woldingham Golf Club. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the post wedding breakfast speeches. The best mens’ speech consisted of Julian being put on trial for numerous charges and lead to the dock in handcuffs. The best men took on roles of judge, prosecutor and defending counsel and presented evidence dating all the way back to when they’d first met at prep school. It was certainly one of the funniest speeches I’ve seen!
The first dance began with Greek dancing whilst holding a South African, linking the roots of both families. After a quite a few more dances we popped out onto the balcony for sparklers and a single Chinese lantern. They made for fabulous closing photos for such a fantastic day.
