Eleanor and Alex’s Inn On The Lake wedding took place on a glorious summers day. Located on the shore of Ullswater at Glenridding and with amazing mountain and lake views, the Inn On The Lake is a dream venue for a Lake District wedding.
My day began with photographing Eleanor’s and her bridesmaids’ very chilled out preparations. They were ready in plenty of time, so took the opportunity for a few peeks out of the window to see what Alex and the guys were up to, which was mostly relaxing in the wonderful sunshine!
The ceremony itself took place in the gazebo on the lawn, close to the lake shore and with the Cumbrian mountains acting as a backstop to the views in just about every direction.
Following the ceremony it was on to the drinks reception, with a little break for the group photos and some couple portraits. So as not to take Eleanor and Alex away from their guests for too long we split those portraits into a number of short sessions throughout the day. With the weather so stunning, it also allowed us to make best use of the lovely light that evolved as the day went on. Then it was on to the wedding breakfast, with a few short speeches prior to the meal itself.
There was a little more chill out time for everyone in the late afternoon before we came to another highlight of the day. Eleanor and Alex’s treat to their guests (and themselves) was an evening cruise on Ullswater. This required a short stroll through Glenridding to the ferry pier where we embarked onto our boat, The Lady of the Lake. The timing for this perfectly aligned with some incredible golden hour light. So we couldn’t miss the opportunity for some mid cruise portraits at the bow of the boat!
The festivities didn’t end there! Back on dry land, the nighttime celebrations kicked off and the party carried on with a busy dance floor accompanied by a delicious hog roast to keep everyone going until very late.
