Jessica and Karim will be getting married in just a few weeks at Poundon House, one of my favourite wedding venues. For their Oxfordshire engagement shoot, they chose to go to Iffley Lock. It holds special memories for them as it was the location for their first date. We had a very pleasant stroll along the bank of the Thames and found lots of gorgeous locations for the photos there.
After we’d finished at Iffley, we popped back to Jessica and Karim’s house for a chat about how the wedding plans were going and how we’d fit the group photos and formal portraits into their day, which includes both civil and Hindu ceremonies. We then did a final couple of photos in their garden and were joined by Tickles, their tortoise.
I’m really looking forward to going back to Poundon House for their wedding.
I love engagement shoots as they let me really get to know my couples. It also gives them a chance to get used to having their photos taken, something which most couples are at least a little nervous about. I don’t over pose or do anything contrived for my portraits, I’ll just get the couple in position and then help them to relax and be themselves. That way we get really natural photos.
