Heather and Giles were married in September at Old Finsbury Town Hall. Their wedding was in the Council Chamber and reception in the absolutely stunning Large Hall.
On the big day I met up with Giles at the Exmouth Arms, just a couple of minutes stroll up the road from Old Finsbury Town Hall where he was enjoying a pre-wedding drink with the rest of the guys. Most of the wedding guests were meeting up here too. So as well as a chance for me to photograph the wedding rings, there were lots of relaxed candid moments to capture here too.
Heather arrived at the venue with her dad a little late having been let down by the taxi she’d booked and had to arrange another at the very last moment. She remained totally calm though, a lesson to us all to just take things in our stride and not get stressed by the little challenges that life throws in our way, even if they’re on our wedding day!
Following the service we left the guests for a short portrait session in the area around the venue, the lovely little back streets and Wilmington Square giving us a wide variety of backdrops for some lovely photographs.
There was no official cake at this wedding. Instead the guests brought a very wide selection of homemade cakes which were all shared as the dessert for the wedding breakfast.
The post dinner speeches contained a great mix of emotions and so much laughter. This is always one of my favourite parts of the day. I can’t give anything away, but having been told by the best man what Giles did in the speeches for his wedding, I think Giles got off quite lightly here!
