Botleys Mansion wedding photographer.
I’d been looking forward to photographing Jenny and Gareth’s Botleys Mansion wedding for quite some time and it really didn’t disappoint. Botleys Mansion is one of my favourite venues. All of the rooms have huge windows which give beautiful light for the photographs and the staff there are always so helpful.
Gareth is an airline pilot and Jenny one of the glamorous cabin crew. You’d think there wasn’t much point asking them how they met then, but there is an interesting little twist to their story. I won’t spill the beans here though, you’ll have to ask them!
My co-pilot for the day was Bob Owen, who I’ve had the pleasure of working with many times before. Having a second photographer along means we can provide comprehensive coverage of both groom and bridal preparations, along with extra candid photography coverage of the guests during the group shots and couple portraits.
I had to kick my wet weather plan into action for this wedding. I always have one, but always hope I won’t need it. For this wedding it meant doing all of the group shots in the ceremony room. So straight after the service, we had to get all of the chairs from the ceremony room cleared. Gareth’s groomsmen were absolute stars and moved all the chairs in no time. They even removed the taped down aisle carpet too.
I always love the speeches at weddings. There are usually a lot of emotions and it gives a wonderful opportunity for some lovely photos. These speeches certainly hit that target, with a few tears and an awful lot of laughs! Gareth told us about the agreement that “what happens on the stag do, stays on the stag do”. However his groomsmen got hold of his mobile phone, so what happened on the stag do went straight onto Facebook!
The evening finished off with partying late into the night. I was enjoying taking the photos so much that I stayed on rather late too.
It was an absolute pleasure to photograph this relaxed, but fun filled day. Days like these always remind me I must have one of the best jobs in the world.
